December 2019, Roundtable on "The right to health - standards and perspectives"

14 projects to strengthen human rights in the Transnistrian region were conducted in 2020-2021, thanks to the support of Sweden, provided through the One UN Joint Action "Cross-river support for human rights". In total US$73,000 were allocated.

The projects have contributed to strengthening respect for the rights of people with disabilities, the rights of children, Roma, people living with HIV/AIDS, women and children from vulnerable groups, survivors of domestic violence on both banks of the Nistru river.

Legal counseling services for people living with HIV/AIDS have been created and para-legal specialists among people living with HIV/AIDS have been trained. At the same time, various social services were supported for vulnerable families and older people.

One of the funded projects, implemented by the consortium of OSORC Resource Center (Tiraspol) and SOS Autism (Chișinău), used, for the first time, the international methodology for early diagnosis of children with autism and their families - ADOS-2. Thanks to the assistance of Sweden and the UN, the necessary set of tools was purchased. Until then, children with autism in the region could not be diagnosed or receive specialized care. Now, the methodology is applied and, by the end of 2021, at least 20 children on the left bank will be evaluated and helped.

Another project, developed by the consortium of the Federation of Families for Unification and World Peace in Moldova and the NGO “От равного к равному” (Parcani village, Transnistrian Region), prepared the piloting process of the “Personal Assistant” service for children with severe disabilities from the left bank of Nistru.

UNDP has announced a new call for grants under the One UN Joint Action "Cross-river support for human rights". The contest will end on 30 July 2021.
