European Union supports participation of musicians from both banks of Nistru at Moldova Jazz Tur 2020

A concert half live and half online took place on 5 December 2020 in the premises of Chisinau History Museum. “Jazz’n Chișinău” band with the percussionist Oleg Lestaev from Tiraspol as a special guest have performed live, while “У камина” band from Tiraspol has connected virtually to the event. The concert was broadcast live.

Project’s partners are the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, Culture department of Chisinau Mayoralty, as well as National Committee ICOM and Agency for Economic and Social Development Paragon”, which manage the „Culture Platform of EU Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP.

Moldovan Jazz Tur 2020 has started on 16 November and included musical performances in Cahul, Slobozia Mare, Leova, Hancesti, Carpineni, Ialoveni, Cimislia, Ungheni, Calarasi and Soroca, with its closing event on 5 December in Chisinau.

The festival has also included 12 workshops and concerts for students, professors, professional musicians from culture institutions, schools, and musical colleges, including workshops for Tiraspol Arts Institute students.

This social and educational project aims at raising the level of culture education, by developing the pedagogical dimension of the art and by cultivating a tolerant community. As a result of these concerts and workshops beneficiaries will learn more about culture, traditions, diversity of jazz music and its modern tendencies, while young musicians will receive instruments to create new musical projects, to extend their creativity through a new format of events (on-line platforms, distance learning, etc.). The same time, this event will create a communication platform for musicians from both banks of Nistru to present their best non-standard and ambitious ideas.
