Closer to consumers: The atlas of organic agriculture in the Republic of Moldova has been launched

In premiere, an atlas of organic agriculture was launched in the Republic of Moldova. The electronic map covers certified producers of organic agricultural products in Moldova and is available online. The platform was created by Ecovisio, with support from the Small Grants Programme of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The atlas contains information about each ECO certified producer operating on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the land owned, the crops that was grown, the authority that issued the ECO certificate. Also, data about ECO processors and producers of processed agricultural products are made available. The platform will be updated yearly.

The atlas includes several filters, which facilitates the access to the necessary information.

The map is destinated to public institutions, actors in the field of environmental protection and human health, but also to civil society representatives, who need this information.

In the Republic of Moldova there are 151 agricultural producers who hold ECO certificates for about 50 agricultural crops. The area cultivated with organic crops is estimated at about 26 thousand hectares.
