Grants up to €40,000 from the European Union for partnerships from both banks of Nistru to implement innovative business ideas

Organizations and companies from both banks of Nistru can create partnerships to participate in a grants’ competition organized by European Union’s Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP.

Partnerships must be established of at least two institutions, NGOs and companies. Submitted project should approach at least one of the challenges exacerbated by the pandemic, such as limited access to raw materials, undermined distribution networks, absence of a competitive market for logistics operators, etc.

The competition is open to ideas with solutions for micro, micro, small and medium enterprises through digitalization of their processes, and of their interaction with local public authorities, with state institutions and suppliers.

Project proposals would encourage businesses on both banks of Nistru to cooperate and benefit of economic exchanges over the river, considering the new business environment, created after COVID-19 crisis.

All activities envisaged by project ideas should take place between November 2020 and November 2021.

The deadline for submitting applications is 2 October 2020, 4.00 PM.

An assessment conducted by UNDP has shown that pandemics has deeply affected micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), and, therewith, thousands of families in Moldova, which have lost their workplaces and revenues. MSMEs represent over 95% of private business in Moldova and more than 60% of the population is employed by them.

According to a study by IDIS “Viitorul”, in January-May 2020 exports from the left bank of Nistru and internal trade with the right bank has decreased by 9% comparing with the same period of 2019, as a consequence of the pandemic, including measures to avoid spreading of COVID-19.

The European Union’s Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP, has been initiated in 2009 and has reached its 5th phase. It aims at bringing closer people on both banks of Nistru by involving them in joint development projects.
