UNDP inspires journalists and civic activists to make best use of open dataJul 17, 2017
MiLab, Moldova Social Innovation Lab within UNDP Moldova, will host Open Data Media Camp 2017 during 13-17 September 2017 for 25 local participants, guided by 5 Slovak mentors. Investigative journalists, activists, NGO representatives and bloggers interested in open data, research and watchdog activities are expected to participate.
The 5-days camp comprises capacity building activities, close mentoring, follow-up and interactive discussions. The agenda will include topics such as work with data, value-finding and creation of stories using open data, case studies and practical examples from different countries, technical skills for basic data manipulations, available ICT solutions.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn from best practices and experience from Slovak and other international contexts, in fields such as advocacy work, data-driven journalism, interactive apps.
6 participants will be awarded with a fellowship worth 1,000 USD, based on submission of a brief research proposal. A 4-day study visit in Slovakia will be organized for awarded fellows, that will enhance their experience in using open data.
The working language is English, with English to Romanian interpretation ensured.

Media Camp participation is free of charge and all accommodation, meals and transport costs are covered.
This activity makes part of the Slovak Transition Knowledge and Experience Transfer Program for Moldova supported by SlovakAid jointly organized with the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme).
