The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the critical importance of effective governance systems and institutions, as well as of responsive communication within the society. In this context, the Government’s ability to harness public trust during the pandemic, that has converged from a health crisis into a socio-economic crisis, is crucial for a sustainable recovery. This paper reflects upon the long-term solutions and strategies that need to be designed to ensure coherent, targeted, innovative and effective collaboration between the Government, institutions, and citizens.
