The European Union will support joint initiatives of the civil society from both banks with up to 20,000 euros per project in the framework of the fifth phase of the EU “Confidence Building Measures” Programme, implemented by UNDP.

Project proposals should increase confidence among people living on both banks, by involving non-profit organizations in addressing joint problems in a participatory manner. Recommended activities include, but are not limited to: health, including social protection; culture; environment protection; education; sports, including tourism, and local development.

The selection of the proposals will be based on transparent and competitive procedures. The selection criteria and other details are available on UNDP website. The deadline for submitting the projects proposals is 18 April 2019, 16.00.

In 2018, NGOs from both banks joined efforts for 30 impactful projects, among them the opening of the Perinatal Schools in Criuleni and Tiraspol, the Centers for training in first medical aid in Bender and Varnita. Thanks to the EU grants, palliation services and the social service “Mobile teams for families with children with special needs” became operational on the left bank of the Nistru river.

Several cultural and sports events were jointly organized, such as: the “Night of the Stars Fest”, “Nistru Jazz Fest”, “Urban Generation Fest”, the Festival “The cultural ferry Rascov - Vadul-Rascov”, the conference “The Culture is a common good”, the launch of the book “Fairytales and Legends from across the Nistru”, the Public Space Days 2019, “Together we are a team” football festival, and others.

Overall, these cooperation projects impacted 15,000 beneficiaries.

The fifth phase of the EU “Confidence Building Measures” Programme was launched in January 2019. The Programme contributes to confidence building among the inhabitants from both banks of the Nistru river by involving them in joint projects.
