Communities located on the right and left banks of the Nistru river are invited to apply for funding of social infrastructure renovation projects. The European Union will support the modernizing of about five social infrastructure facilities on each riverbank in the framework of the European Union - Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP Moldova.
Communities are encouraged to come up with project proposals aiming to rehabilitate social institutions, such as medical, cultural, sport, or educational facilities, as well as projects for improving essential community infrastructure: water and sewerage supply networks, waste management systems, street lighting, and others.
One single or more localities on the same river bank may apply for financing for up to 80,000 Euro, funds provided by the European Union. Joint applications developed by communities from both banks could get funds of up to 125,000 Euro. The projects should promote cooperation and confidence building between the inhabitants on the right and left banks of the Nistru river.
The proposals will be selected on a transparent and competitive basis. The requirements, selection criteria, eligibility list, and other details may be consulted on UNDP’s web-site – the organization which is implementing the Programme. The deadline for submitting the projects proposals is 8 April 2019, 16.00.
The fifth phase of the European Union - Confidence Building Measures Programme was launched in January 2019. Since the start of the Programme in 2009, over 80 social infrastructure facilities from both banks of the Nistru river were renovated and endowed with equipment, including: cultural halls, health centres, sport halls, schools and kindergartens, etc. The communities that have previously benefited from infrastructure projects can also participate in the current competition.
The European Union - Confidence Building Measures Programme contributes to confidence building among the inhabitants from both banks of the Nistru river by engaging them in joint projects. The Programme is financed by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.
