Electoral stakeholders and political parties benefit from BRIDGE International CoursesNov 19, 2015
46 electoral stakeholders and representatives of political parties have the chance to follow two BRIDGE modules in electoral processes and political finances, respectively, in the period 9-20 November 2015. The trainings are organized in the framework of “Improving the Quality of Moldovan Democracy through Parliamentary and Electoral Support” Project, financed by Sweden and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
BRIDGE stands for Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections. It uses a methodology which is based on adults teaching principles, teamwork and learning by doing. BRIDGE modules are renowned worldwide as professional trainings for election stakeholders. UNDP is one of the five international partners of BRIDGE. Electoral training and Political finance are two BRIDGE modules whose aim is to increase the awareness of tools and resources available for the building and maintaining of a sustainable electoral culture.
So, 21 trainers are capacitated to deliver professional, transparent and efficient electoral processes. At the same time, 25 civil servants from the Court of Accounts, Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and the Ministry of Finance, so as representatives of parliamentary parties learn more about the recently adopted provisions regarding funding of political parties.
“BRIDGE allows sharing election-related experience and knowledge in a very accessible manner. These workshops help the trainers to approach strategically the challenges that the polling officials are facing, and thus they improve planning and increase efficiency,” notes Cristina Cucurudza, who has been recently accredited as BRIDGE facilitator.
To date, 6 BRIDGE workshop facilitators and 3 BRIDGE accrediting facilitators have been qualified with the support of UNDP Moldova. Worldwide there are only 78 BRIDGE accrediting facilitators.
BRIDGE is a key component of UNDP electoral assistance worldwide. Moldovan BRIDGE Project started in 2009. By then 12 thematic workshops were conducted and 70 persons were trained in 2012 within the UNDP Project “Improving the Quality of Moldovan Democracy through Parliamentary and Electoral Support”.Contact information
