Building trust and friendship between youth on both banks through dance
Young dancers from both banks of the Nistru River brought the dance fairy on the stage of "Serghei Lunchevici" National Philharmonic in Chisinau. Students from the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chisinau, together with students of "S.Rachmaninov" arts school in Tiraspol, supported by artists from "Bravissima" theatre and the oriental dance troupe "Tadja" enchanted those over one thousand spectators gathered in the Philharmonic Concert Hall, making them dance in the rhythm of their dance.
The show "Dance Fairy" brought on the stage the most famous ballroom dances and delighted the audience with the rhythms of the dance and the distinguished artists. The show is part of a series of 10 concerts organized throughout the year on both banks of the Nistru River, by the Collaboration and Partnership Center in Chisinau and the Palace of the Republic in Tiraspol, with the support of the EU- UNDP Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme. Four shows were organized earlier in Ribnita, Chisinau and Tiraspol. The last show, "The Charm of the Great Tchaikovsky’s Music ", was held in November, also on the stage of the National Philharmonic Concert Hall.
“It is encouraging to see these talented children dancing together on the same stage. The European Union is delighted to support this initiative and will continue to encourage similar cultural and artistic exchanges between the two banks of the Nistru River. We are committed to providing these young people with more opportunities to develop their talents together", Wicher Slagter, Head of Politics and Economics Unit of the European Union Delegation in Moldova, said.
By supporting these cultural initiatives, the EU-UNDP Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme aims to develop sustainable partnerships between cultural institutions on both banks of the Nistru River and help young people on both banks to exchange experiences and develop their artistic skills together.
"The concert, which takes place immediately after the International Human Rights Day, reminds us of the beauty and value of the cultural rights. Their value is intrinsic and they are part of the interdependent and indivisible human rights’ family. Participation of children on both banks in this joint cultural event demonstrates the value of cultural and creative experiences in building trust and friendship between young people. Investing in youth and creating opportunities for them to develop their talents should always be a priority," said Nicola Harrington - Buhay, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova.
Over the next six months, other 5 cultural shows will be organized in Chisinau, Ribnita, Tiraspol and Bender, in which over 100 talented children and young people and 400 teachers and professional musicians on both banks of the Nistru River will show their talents.
The Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme helps promote trust between both banks of the Nistru River by involving local authorities, civil society, business community and other stakeholders in the economic and social development of local communities. The Programme activities are carried out in five core areas: business development, civil society, social infrastructure renovation by local development, health and environment.
