Being at its 6th Edition, the Moldova-Eco Energetica Gala was attended by over 400 guests, representatives of the Moldovan government authorities, ministers, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, private sector, academia and civil society.

The third edition of the Innovation in Governance Forum was oriented on how innovation can make public sector more effective and responsive to people’s needs and how it can help advance the Public Administration Reform.   • First laboratory to test solid biofuels in Moldova received accreditation Nov 23, 2016

    The solid biofuel laboratory within the Agrarian University is the first in the Republic of Moldova to receive accreditation for testing physical and chemical parameters of biofuels. The accreditation was issued in November 2016. The laboratory received modern equipment in value of 100,000 EUR from the European Union, in the framework of Energy and Biomass Project, implemented by UNDP.

  • Parliament Secretariat pledges to promote a gender-responsive human resources management Nov 23, 2016

    28 female and male employees of the Parliament Secretariat of the Republic of Moldova were trained in human resources management and gender mainstreaming in its practices and policies. The training was conducted in a context where women in the Parliament Secretariat represent 2/3 of the employees, according to the first Gender Audit Report of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, developed by UNDP in 2015. The Audit stated that the low salaries were the main reason of women’s over-representation. One of the experts’ recommendations was to introduce a stipulation on parental leave in the Regulation of the Parliament.

    The Republic of Moldova will have a new National Human Rights Plan (NHRP) to implement the recommendations addressed to the country by the UN Human Rights Council under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) 2016. This commitment was assumed by the authorities, civil society and development partners during an international conference held in Chisinau on 22 - 23 November 2016.

    Over 56% of the Moldovan families use stoves to heat their dwellings in the cold season, and heat only part of the dwelling surface. Only 22% of the Moldovan people are connected to the centralized heat supply system and more than half of them do not have a water heating system.

  • Better integration and employment services for returning migrants Nov 14, 2016

    Unprecedentedly, officials in charge of migration at local and national level discusses the improvement of services for returning migrants seeking for job or other information and services. Consultations were held in the framework of a workshop organized with the support of the Swiss Government as a result of the successful cooperation between UNDP ”Migration and Local Development” Project (MiDL), Bureau for Diaspora Relations of the State Chancellery and the International Organization for Migration.
