  • With EU support culture revived in Molovata village Jul 19, 2017

    Starting with today, unique cultural events will become normal in Molovata, a picturesque village on the bank of Nistru. The European Union funded the refurbishment of the cultural facility in the community, in the framework of Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by the UNDP. So, the beginning of a new era for the cultural life of the village started on Tuesday, 18 of July, with a creative flash-mob on the Molovata ferry and a concert of classical music.

  • UNDP inspires journalists and civic activists to make best use of open data Jul 17, 2017

    MiLab, Moldova Social Innovation Lab within UNDP Moldova, will host Open Data Media Camp 2017 during 13-17 September 2017 for 25 local participants, guided by 5 Slovak mentors. Investigative journalists, activists, NGO representatives and bloggers interested in open data, research and watchdog activities are expected to participate.

  • Moldova: Enhancing awareness of electoral stakeholders on the gender perspective of different electoral systems Jul 11, 2017

    In Moldova women account for 22.8% of MPs in the national Legislature. In April 2016, a legislated 40% gender quota was introduced for the political party candidate lists at the Parliamentary and Local Elections. The law does lack placement provisions, which means that women candidates can be placed at the bottom of the political party candidate lists for upcoming elections. The first-time implementation of the quota has been planned for the 2018 scheduled Parliamentary Elections.

    How does the Parliament work? How are laws adopted and how can people get involved in discussing and consulting legislative acts? In order to answer these questions and provide people with firsthand easy to grasp information, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has prepared several videos, which can be found on Parliament’s YouTube channel. The video-graphics were produced with the support of the Project "Strengthening Parliamentary Governance in Moldova", implemented by the United Nations Development Programme and financed by the Swedish Government.

    The Republic of Moldova has committed to achieving 106 targets for a better life by 2030. The respective targets represent the outcome of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda’s nationalization. Moldova has committed to implement the 2030 Agenda jointly with the other 192 UN Member States by adopting the Declaration of the Sustainable Development Summit that took place in September 2015 in New York.

  • UNDP has delivered more than half of medicines necessary for nine national and special health programmes in the Republic of Moldova Jul 4, 2017

    The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provided the Ministry of Health with 56% of the total volume of medicines contracted under an assistance project focused on the procurement of life-saving medicine for patients in the Republic of Moldova. These efforts brought over USD 923,000 in savings to the state budget or 23% of the allocated budget.

  • For home with love: Ialoveni benefits from street lightening and shall generate more income for the local budget, due to a tower crane procured for high works Jul 1, 2017

    Natives from Ialoveni contributed with over 2,500 USD, supporting their local public administration to procure a tower crane for executing height works. The Government of Switzerland offered via the United Nations Development Programme, a grant of 20,000 USD, on top of the 2,500 USD allocated by the city hall local budget and the contributions of the population.

    46 children from different parts of the Republic of Moldova discover renewable energy at ENERGEL Summer School, during 25 June – 5 July. Participants come from those communities which benefitted from the EU-funded Energy and Biomass Project and installed biomass heating systems.

  • The Climate Change Office in partnership with the UNDP, has launched a contest for journalistic articles on climate change adaptation issues Jun 30, 2017

    The Climate Change Office and the Ministry of Environment, in partnership with the UNDP, have launched a contest for journalistic articles on climate change adaptation issues. It is open to all journalists from national and local press, online media, radio and television. The competition is held through the Project "Supporting Moldova’s National Climate Change Adaptation Planning Process", funded by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management of the Republic of Austria, through UNDP.

  • SUN DA-I FEST brought clean energy to the heart of Chisinau Jun 26, 2017

    Thousands of people gathered in the Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Public Garden to see, touch and test renewable energy technologies and enjoy music powered by solar panels. The SUN Dă-I Fest is organized by the Energy and Biomass Project - funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme - the Energy Efficiency Agency and POT Music.

  • 4,000 inhabitants from Scoreni benefit from street lighting Jun 24, 2017

    Around 4,000 inhabitants from Scoreni, Straseni district, will benefit from street lighting, due to villagers’ and migrants’ engagement in local development. Thus, 3 km of cable and 84 LED light fittings of 56W have been installed, with a 5 time less consumption as compared to the traditional bulbs, with a life expectancy of about 15 years and a warranty of 5 years.

  • 23 localities will enjoy better communal services as result of migrants’ involvement Jun 23, 2017

    Over 200 thousand persons from 23 localities will benefit from projects aiming to improve local infrastructure and bring better living conditions, initiative that became possible thanks to migrants’ engagement. So, over 792 thousand USD are invested by 18 villages and 5 cities. Out of this amount, approx. 118.6 thousand USD represent migrants’ donations, collected via Guvern24 crowdfunding platform.
