    Online mass-media from the left side of the River Nistru becomes more active

    For the first time, 11 schools from the Transnistrian region created their own blogs, where pupils can practice their journalistic skills and share their achievements. For one year, 70 pupils from the region were trained to create blogs for their schools. At the end of the training course, young bloggers gathered together at a summer school organized with the assistance of the EU-UNDP “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Programme to share their experience.

    Winners of the Grants Programme for Civil Society launched a new round of projects for enhancing confidence among people on both sides of the Nistru River

    Another nine civil society projects were launched with the purpose to increase confidence among people on both sides of the Nistru River and to improve the quality of their lives. Selected during the second round of the Grants programme for Civil Society, organized by the UNDP-EU “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Programme, the projects will be carried out in partnership with the nongovernmental organizations from both banks.

    3 000 school students are familiar with renewable energy sources and energy efficiency

    As many as 3 000 children from the Republic of Moldova know how to make use of the renewable energy sources and are familiar with the secret of energy savings. Next week, the school students of Grades VII and VIII, representing 64 Moldovan schools, will complete their school year, during which they learned about renewables and energy efficiency. The educational initiative on renewable energy and energy efficiency is carried out under the EU-UNDP funded Energy and Biomass Project.

    Confidence as key subject of a survey

    It was “weighted”, “measured”, “defined” and suggested as solution for improving people’s life. It is about confidence. A survey determining the level of confidence between the people from the both sides of the River Nistru was undertaken for the first time in Moldova by the “Novii Vek” Center from Tiraspol and “Community Initiative for Democratization and Counseling” from Chisinau, with the financial assistance of the Joint UNDP-EU “Support to Confidence Building Measures” Programme. More details about the respective analysis are pointed out in the interview with Elena Bubcova, President of the Independent Center of Analytical Surveys “Novii Vek”.

    School and kindergarten from Tareuca Village have biomass heating system installed as an alternative to the natural gas heating system

    The school and the kindergarten from Tareuca Village, Resina Rayon have their energy security ensured. Both institutions have modern pellet-fired heating plants installed within their facilities. Next winter the village school and kindergarten will be heated based on fuel produced locally, among the beneficiaries being more than 230 children and the staff.

    UNDP supports the Republic of Moldova in reporting on UN Convention against Corruption

    National Anticorruption Centre (NAC) launched a self-assessment of the achievements in the area of anti-corruption after Moldova joined the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in 2007. The self-assessment consists of an analysis of the compliance of Moldova’s national anti-corruption legislation, systems, policies, and institutions with UNCAC requirements. Various stakeholders such as Ministries of Justice, Finance, Internal Affairs, Customs Service, Parliament, as well as representatives of civil society and private sector will be involved in this exercise.
