Environment and Energy

Environmental degradation, pollution and unsustainable use of natural resources are a significant concern for Moldova’s development agenda. The economic, social and health costs of environmental degradation and deteriorated infrastructure are high, while economic growth will further increase pressure on the environment and natural resources.

UNDP is assisting the Government in its efforts towards increasing coherence with the EU acquis and improving compliance with commitments under the main Multilateral Environment Agreements to which Moldova is a party. Priority areas of intervention are climate change adaptation and mitigation, disaster risk management, renewable energy and energy efficiency, biodiversity conservation and chemicals management. more
