Gender Audit of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. Towards fostering a more gender sensitive institution

February 26, 2016

The goal of the gender audit of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is to analyze the current status of the Parliament in terms of its operational and institutional culture from a gender perspective; identify critical gaps and challenges; and provide recommendations to make the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova a more gender-sensitive Parliament.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) has defined a gender sensitive parliament as one that responds to the needs and interests of both men and women in its
structures, operations, methods and work.2 While the IPU has found that women are overwhelmingly the main drivers of progress in gender equality in Parliaments worldwide, Parliaments, as institutions, also have responsibilities to ensure gender equality.
